Lapped

Lapped siding offers two excellent options: James Hardie and LP Smartside, each tailored to different needs. James Hardie siding, made from durable cementitious material, is highly resistant to heat, fire, water, UV rays, snow, sleet, and high winds, making it ideal for the Texas climate. Its fire-resistant properties help prevent the spread of fire between homes, adding an extra layer of safety. While durable, its cement composition can be prone to chipping or cracking under heavy impact. Hardie’s designs range from traditional lapped siding to the bold and modern Artesian line with mitered corners. LP Smartside, crafted from engineered wood treated with zinc borate, resins, and waxes, offers similar weather resistance and a comparable lapped profile. It is stronger and less prone to damage from impact but lacks the fire resistance of James Hardie due to its wood composition.
